Andrea Weigl worked for 20 years as an award-winning newspaper reporter in North Carolina and South Carolina. She ended her print journalism career as the food editor at The News & Observer in Raleigh, N.C. She spent five years working for Markay Media as a producer on documentary films as well as such award-winning PBS shows as “A Chef’s Life,” and “Somewhere South.” She now uses her storytelling skills and news judgment to help nonprofits, hotels and restaurants get their stories told in both tradiPonal and social media via the company she co-founded, Sandbox Collaborative.
Andrea Weigl will share tips for how to send better media pitches based on newsworthiness, timing and story angles. She will use media coverage she obtained for a local charity 5K to illustrate her points. She will discuss how to set realistic expectations for coverage based on the changing media landscape.
